York Races: Tips, racecards and betting preview for York Stakes day live on ITV

IT’S York Stakes day on the Knavesmire on Saturday afternoon.

The action at York is as competitive as ever, so our man Jack Keene has done the hard work for you in the big terrestrial TV races.

2.05 EBF Stallions Fillies’ Handicap

GOLDEN HIND wasn’t in love with the ridges at Ripon when a never-nearer second over a mile on her return to action.

The daughter of Golden Horn was doing all her best work inside the final furlong so should relish this step up in trip over this fair, galloping surface. Her opening mark looks very tempting.

Award Scheme is the main danger, and she battled to a gutsy success at Salisbury last time. She is on the up and can push the selection close off 8lb higher.

Dawaween can race keenly, and it was perhaps her undoing at Hamilton (as was the very testing ground). She has ability, though and is another to consider.

SELECTION: Golden Hind

2.40 Sky Bet York Stakes (Group 2)

ASPETAR ran a huge race on his comeback at Sandown earlier this month.

The Roger Charlton-trained Group 1 winner tanked into contention but just ran out of gas in the closing stages on his first run of the season.

The form of that race has been boosted, with the fourth Global Giant winning at Newbury last weekend, and he can go one better with that pipe-opener behind him.

Elarqam won this race last year and he will be happier back down in trip having flopped in the Hardwicke last season. He is the likeliest danger, for all he is no better than this grade.

Telecaster bounced back to something like his best in France last time out, but on the bare figures he has to step forward again to trouble a few of these (he may well be capable of that, in fairness).

The increasingly frustrating King Of Comedy fluffed a good opportunity at Newbury and this is D-Day for him, while Regal Reality will be praying the rain stays away. If it does, he is right in the thick of things.

SELECTION: Aspetar

3.15 Sky Bet Club Handicap

ORBAAN was a taking winner of a hot race at this track 16 days ago.

He came there swinging and quickened up nicely, winning with more in hand than the margin of a length suggests.

He can defy top-weight at the chief expense of Greenside, who has been a cracking servant to the Henry Candy stable and arrives in winning form.

Elwazir and Hartswood, who both ran well in decent company last time out, bring solid handicap form to the table and make plenty of each-way appeal.

SELECTION: Orbaan

It’s been a long-time since NORMANDY BARRIERE tasted success – over three years in fact.

But things didn’t pan out as he’d have liked at Newbury last time and he had run a cracker at Redcar the time before. He is absolutely thrown in on his old form.

Autumn Flight was doing his best work late over 5f at Haydock last time out and is is ready for this step back up to 6f.

Tukhoom made all for a gutsy success here last week and will be dangerous to all if allowed a soft lead again.

EACH-WAY SELECTION: Normandy Barriere
