A SPORTS car in which Abba’s Benny Andersson is said to have recorded hit song ideas may sell for £120,000 at auction.

The 73-year-old is thought to have been often struck by the artists’ muse in the red Maserati Merak SS Coupe.

Benny is said to have recorded ideas for several of Abba’s hit singles while in the luxury Italian coupe

The Italian motor came with a Blaupunkt radio cassette player which had a microphone fitted.

Andersson is believed to have used it to record musical ideas while he was behind the wheel of the luxury Italian coupe.

Benny bought the new car in 1976 from a Swedish Maserati dealer.

Later that year Abba recorded Money, Money, Money and Knowing Me, Knowing You.

The car goes under the hammer at Bonhams motor auction in Bicester, Oxon, on Saturday.

According to the sale catalogue: “The car benefits from much specialist expenditure in the last few years.”
